Change & Tradition

This year’s event will feature over 25 authors including Brock Adams, Jaye Robin Brown, Lucy Corin, Anne Maren-Hogan, Jeanne Julian, Marjorie Hudson, J. Drew Lanham, Ray McManus, Grace Ocasio, Mimi Ormond, Cat Pleska, Adrian Rice, Ann Ross, Shelby Stephenson, and Crystal Wilkinson. Fiddling legend Bruce Greene will perform on Thursday evening, and again on Saturday afternoon with Shelby Stephenson.  

 Special Events at 2017 Festival

Thursday night:  Free concert with Bruce Greene and Shelby Stephenson.  An evening of sharing music old and new.

Friday:  Two workshops (advanced payment required) and free sessions with authors from 9am to 5pm. Banquet on Friday night.

Saturday: Three more workshops and other free sessions with authors. Keynote speaker on Saturday night is James Reston, Jr.  Preregistration is required.

Readings and Discussions around town on Friday and Saturday, 9am – 5pm.  Free admission

Writing Workshops during the event will focus on Fiction, Memoir, Non-Fiction, and Poetry.  Advance registration required. 

Malaprop’s, the Southeast’s premier independent bookstore, will be selling books throughout the event.

The Carolina Mountains Literary Festival is held in and around the Burnsville Town Center on South Main Street featuring public readings, workshops, seminars and other sessions devoted to the art and love of reading and writing.
