Community Update

We extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone affected and express our sincere gratitude to those working tirelessly to bring a sense of normalcy back to our community. As Yancey County continues to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, we invite you to show your love for our community by visiting downtown Burnsville. Our local shops, galleries, restaurants, and taprooms are open and ready to welcome you.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as some areas in Yancey County continue their recovery efforts. For everyone’s safety, please respect any closures and detours as we work hard to restore our beloved spaces. Together, we can ensure a smoother recovery for all. We encourage visitors to stay on main routes shown on DriveNC.gov and follow posted advisories. Many secondary roads are still undergoing repairs, and lane closures and detours remain in place. As you make plans to visit the area, we encourage you to consider the following guidelines:

- Some properties are assisting displaced families, relief workers, and construction crews. We recommend contacting individual properties to check availability.

- Consider making a day trip to support our local shops, restaurants, and businesses, who need your support now more than ever.

Trail Network Update

Our beautiful trail network is currently being assessed, and we are excited to share updates on new openings soon. Stay tuned for information on the best hiking spots to explore the stunning landscapes surrounding Burnsville! The Blue Ridge Parkway in Yancey County including Mount Mitchell State Park remains closed.
